Australia Week Los Angeles 2005, titled G'DAY LA celebrates Australian Film & Style and this year designer Bora was asked to showcase her award-winning couture, ready-to-wear designer daywear and evening collections at the prestigious event. The main purpose of Australia Week was to further the awareness and commercial return of Australian/United States interests. The events participated in by Bora included a 2 day style suite in the penthouse of the Westin Century Plaza Hotel where she met many stylists, representatives and fashionistas. With the Golden Globes scheduled on the same week and other similar other events, Bora's gowns were snapped up by stylists of celebrities, including Aisha Tyler star of TV series '24'. A common saying from stylists, including George Blackwell, stylist of Jamie McGurk (wife of the president of MGM) was, "Where do you stock in LA?. ˇ¦You don't! Oh you've got to.ˇ± |

| At the opening of the Australian Festival, Bora showcased her designs in a fashion show at the Egyptian Theatre Hollywood, where over 600 guests attended and viewed her show stopping couture pieces. Jennifer Hawkins impressively modeled Bora's glamorous couture amongst the columns of the historical building. The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood provided an exotic flavour to the parade, situated on Hollywood Boulevard and was inspired by the discovery of the tomb of King Tutankhamen in 1922. |

While the festivals events opened up opportunities for Bora to promote her collections to stylists, fashionistas, buyers, consumers and celebrities. Bora has also received support from the Queensland Trade and Investment Government who has provided advice and guidance on overseas opportunities. Tina Radburn of the QLD government, who has been based in LA for the past 8 years, stated that Bora's gowns were perfect for LA clientele from her couture; perfect for red carpet events to her designer daywear, which offers something different which, LA people love. |

TASTE-makers and style-setters in Hollywood have Australia on their minds right now. Brisbane designer Hwa Sook Lee is one of seven Australians who will present their collections during Australia Week, which began yesterday in Los Angeles. Hwa Sook Lee, designer of the Bora Couture label and known as Bora, is best known for the golden gown worn by Australian winner Jennifer Hawkins at last year's Miss Universe pageant. ˇ°That gown really put my name on the map,ˇ± Bora said from Los Angeles . The event of the week is a Style Suite set up in the Century Plaza Hotel penthouse, where designers including Bora, Jayson Brunsdon, Leona Edmiston and Zimmermann, along with Sydney shoe queen Terry Biviano and jeweller Jan Logan, will present their ranges to the celebrity stylists and buyers of Los Angeles. ˇ°I have had a wonderful reaction to my range all the stylists have commented that they haven' t seen anything else like it,ˇ± Bora said. ˇ°They are all looking for something that will make their celebrity clients stand out to photographers.ˇ± Australian actor Holly Valance was among the rising stars who took home some Bora pieces. Bora last night attended a dinner at which Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban collected awards for promoting Australia to Americans. |
